Richard Carvath

Samantha Baldwin

I am writing this blog to clarify my position regarding Richard Carvath.

In March 2017, while in hiding with my sons after the outrageous decision by Judge Jeremy Lea to remove them from my custody, I watched helplessly as the media portrayed me as a dangerous woman. However, on social media, the truth began to surface. Friends and supporters rallied together, creating a ‘Just Giving’ page, while the home education community set up a Facebook page. People from all over the world, both friends and strangers, expressed outrage at the situation. The Women’s Coalition, which I later discovered had been contacted by someone well-versed in my case, created a Facebook post that went viral.

Among those who supported me was Richard Carvath, a man I had never heard of before. He seemed to appear from nowhere, first commenting on a Nottinghamshire police post and directing readers to his Twitter account. I was thankful for the support from Carvath and others, as they played a role in challenging the false narrative spread by the press.

Years passed, and despite my ongoing efforts to seek help from the police, judiciary, social services, MPs, law firms, and even the National Crime Agency, no action was taken. No one was doing anything to help me and the boys.

In 2020, Carvath was sentenced to prison for harassing Judge Lea, after he made allegations in a video that a witness had come forward about the judge’s involvement in abuse, and even posted photos of Lea closing the blinds in his bedroom. These events led to Judge Lea recusing himself from my case, only to be replaced by an even more egregious judge —Justice Russell.

Over time, I’ve grown increasingly concerned about some of the blogs posted by Carvath. Some implying a romantic relationship between us. Most astonishingly, in one post in January 2022, he brazenly stated that he would be writing a sequel to my book.

Recently Carvath posted a disturbing blog titled ‘Carvath’s knife’, filled with inappropriate innuendos such as, "Has a certain lady seen him with his knife out yet?" and "If he’s flashed his knife for her, that could be considered an act of courtship." The unsettling tone of his post is alarming.

Most recently, Carvath announced his intention to ‘intervene’ in my case, declaring that he plans to take it to court and stating that ‘justice will likely occur in 2025’. He also mentioned that he intends to re-engage the police. This is despite my recent public request for him to cease any involvement in my case.

I appreciate the support I once received from Richard Carvath and others who helped expose the truth when the courts and the media failed me. However, it has become clear that Carvath’s continued actions are harmful, intrusive, and entirely unwelcome.
